ROAD TRIP! Day 1
While waiting to move into a sublet, Deanna and I decided to go on a road trip to the Grand Canyon!
Today was to be light. We didn’t really leave until around 11:30am, but we don’t have a tight time frame in general so everything is smooth.
Our first stop: Mar’s Cheese Castle in Wisconsin…and not that far into it. It wasn’t a castle made out of cheese or anything, Really, it was barely a castle. The outside KIND OF looks like a castle, and they threw a few suits of armor and such inside to kind of keep it castley. It was like three slightly different mini-marts and a bar put together in one building. The highlight was the hot-sauce section. A full shelving unit of super hot sauces with hilarious names that all dealt having fire come out your butt. My favorite: Ass Reaper.
We continued west…OH! I should say our first planned stop will be Mt. Rushmore! That is why we’re cutting through Wisconsin and Minnesota. Also, we drove through Nebraska and Iowa when Deanna moved to Chicago and the Nebraska part was zzzzzzz.
Other than food or gas our next stop was the Wisconsin Dells…specifically, a place called Top Secret. The reason we stopped was the place looks like the White House was picked up, turned upside down, and dropped. Complete with a few cars caught in the devastation. I believe as Deanna was driving by it I actually said “I WANT THERE!”
We got in and I said “so…what the hell is this place?” The guy described it as half fun-house, half haunted house. He couldn’t say anymore though because it was…top secret. Also, it was a guided tour. We said yes. He said, there is only one guide and it will be 20 minutes. We said bye.
Around this time…and keep in mind were on Day 1 and just about 200 miles into a 3600 mile trek…our oil pressure light comes on.
So, we stop at the Wisconsin/Minnesota border in a little town called Onalaska to get a hotel, go see Kick-Ass, and realize we will be in this town tomorrow while we take our car to the shop.
11 days in Onalaska? Keep tuning in to find out!
