IMPROV REHAB

Saturday 2/11/12 12pm-3pm
$25

Every improvisor picks up a bad habit or two along their journey. Some know what theirs are and some don’t. You don’t have to know what it is to take this class, but you’ll know by the end. Based on hours of observing, performing, and coaching Rance Rizzutto has developed Improv Rehab. It will break your bad habits and focus you in strong relationships and environments…oh, and like rehab, your brain is gonna hurt a little.

Here is what people are saying about Improv Rehab:

“Rance tricks you into having fun and taking improv less seriously so you can have fun and then realize he’s making you take improv more seriously! I have been having a great weekend since this workshop!”

– Jared Larson (iO team: Uncle Magic)

“I thought that the workshop was incredibly helpful…[Improv Rehab] was extremely challenging while at the same time teaching the most important parts of improv scenework. It helped us realize in practice what we’ve always been told about improv in theory…Rance knows his stuff and knows how to get great performances out of improvisors.”

– Mike Madgiak (iO team: Sears Tower)

“The simplest and most honest thing to say about Rance’s training/coaching/teaching is that it is an absolute explosion of fun from beginning to end. He creates and fosters a supportive and safe atmosphere that allowed me to not worry about failing in the exercises. That’s sort of when it was the funnest. When Rance gave me very specific goals in scenes, I focused completely on them and got out of my head and it allowed me to simply react and quickly do things on the fly, in other words: truly improvise!”

– Orlando Lara (iO team: A Loveless Marriage)

EMOTION THROUGH MUSIC

Saturday 2/25/12 12pm-3pm
$25

Music is constantly used in television, movies, and theater to drive or solidify an emotional connection for the viewer. This workshop uses music to help the improviser connect emotionally to the relationship of the scene. Whether you perform regularly with musical accompaniment or not, your characters should always feel.

The music is only used for inspiring emotion. This is not a musical theater/singing workshop.

This class is being taught as an elective at iO Chicago.
